Ruswarp Hall is based in the Whitby area, and is based in the closest village to Whitby town centre (Ruswarp). Ruswarp is a mile from Whitby town centre (as the crow flies).
There is a beautiful riverside walk direct from Ruswarp Hall to the harbour side, which is 1.3 miles and takes less than 30 minutes. Driving is 1.6 miles and takes anywhere from 5 minutes depending on traffic. There is a good local bus service near to Ruswarp Hall, which takes 10 minutes to Whitby town centre. Taxis are readily available and cost around £6-9.
Our main door is locked daily at 9pm (along with all public areas and garden). However you will be provided with a front door key allowing 24/7 access. We do however have 'quiet hours' from 9pm onwards, so ask that guests are respectful of this when coming in at night.
No, Ruswarp Hall does not accept guests under the age of 18 years and does not have the provision for extra beds in the rooms.

No, all of our rooms have either a double or king size bed.
No, Ruswarp Hall is a guest house, providing accommodation and continental breakfast. We do not provide evening meals, lunch, teas or leisure facilities.
Breakfast is served from 8.30am - 9.30am in the dining room, where a plentiful continental-only breakfast hamper is served which includes, teas and coffee, water, orange juice, toast, croissants, milk, cereals, preserves, cheese, eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit etc. We do not serve a full English breakfast.

No, due to our small number of rooms and small team, we cannot offer late checkouts.
Yes and no! We have a residents only snug room which is home to our self-serve honesty bar, where guests can help themselves to a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks from 10am-9pm daily. These drinks are added to your bill. Please note we also ask that guests have departed the snug room and garden by 9pm daily.
Yes! Ruswarp Hall has a beautiful mature rear garden, complete with picnic benches. Our garden is open to guests from 8am-9pm daily.
Ruswarp Hall, built in 1603, in the Jacobean Era, is approaching 420 years old. Guests have a rare opportunity to stay in one of the few examples of a grade two star listed Jacobean building, and one of the oldest lived in buildings in the area. The building is blessed with original Jacobean features, original stone mullioned windows and fantastically wonky walls, nooks and crannies.
You will find your specific cancellation policy on the booking page before finalising your booking. The policy will also be on your email confirmation.
Yes! We have a car park at the front of the building with adequate parking for all guests. We regret that vehicles larger than a standard 4x4 size cannot be accommodated in the car park due to its grade 2 star listed original coaching entrance. We ask that guests do not bring more than one vehicle per room to allow a space for all guests. Please note - vehicles are left at the owners risk.
Yes of course! You are welcome to leave your car with us from 11am on your day of arrival. Just park in a bay and we look forward to seeing you from 3pm-8pm for check in.
At the time of writing, most mobile carriers work well in Ruswarp village, however we are aware that EE network and associated carriers have limited coverage.
Yes! Although please be aware that some of the nooks and crannies of our 420 year old building have limited wifi coverage.
We regret that we do not accept groups of over 6 guests.
Yes! We are a strictly non smoking property. We reserve the right to deduct a minimum charge of £150 for rooms where there is any smell or evidence of smoking.
All of our ensuites have walk in showers. Only two rooms have the addition of a bath, please contact us directly for more information.
No, our rooms do not have fridge facilities.
No, all of our rooms are situated on the first or second floor, up a minimum of 20 stairs. Some stairs are steep. We do not have a lift.
